Autumn has arrived and with it lower temperatures and shorter days. Many of us jump under a warm blanket with a mug of tea to enjoy a good book or watch our favourite TV series.

Of course, this is often accompanied by food as well. Seasonal fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, cherries or cherries, which often served as snacks, are over. Their place is taken by food sins – chips, chocolates, candy bars, pretzels or nuts.

These are mostly empty calories that only satisfy hunger for a while. So there is no point in ruining your health. It is worth choosing healthy snacks, which include dried fruit. Additionally, they are perfect as a second breakfast at school or work. You can eat them alone or add them to other dishes.

Why eat dried fruit?

The products we eat between meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner – should be chosen wisely. It is a little known fact that dried fruits have the same properties, and sometimes even higher, than their fresh counterparts. In addition, they can be consumed throughout the year. You just have to be careful with their quantity, as they are quite caloric.

Dried fruits are an excellent alternative to sweets – they are sweet and filling. They add energy, contain many vitamins and are a rich source of fiber, which regulates bowel function. The best and healthiest dried fruits are those which are not sourced and free from unnecessary additives.

Dried apples

Dried apples have a lot of nutritional value and are very good for our health. Some even claim that they should be eaten every day because they have a salutary effect on our body. First of all they contain polyphenols and B vitamins, which prevent cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and neutralize free radicals. In addition, they help in digestion and cleanse the digestive system of undigested remains.

And that’s not all. Potassium contained in dried apples improves heart function, and boron supports the bone system. Moreover, dried apples lower cholesterol and contain a lot of vitamin C. Dried apples are the perfect substitute for unhealthy chips.

Dried plums

Dried plums provide almost 7 times more fiber than fresh ones, therefore they are recommended for constipation. It is enough to eat a few pieces to stimulate the digestive and excretory system. Dried plums quickly give a feeling of satiety and are a great snack for people on a diet.

In addition, they are a natural source of vitamin A, which helps maintain beautiful skin, B vitamins and vitamin C, and vitamin E, which acts as an effective antioxidant. Dried plums are also rich in iron, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium. They also counteract osteoporosis.

Dried apricots

Dried apricots are primarily a source of calcium, which supports our skeletal and muscular system, and beta-carotene, which is responsible for the condition of the skin. They also have so much vitamin A in them that it is enough to eat four pieces to cover the daily requirement for it.

In addition, they are rich in fiber, vitamin C, potassium, phosphorus and iron. They are great for people who suffer from high blood pressure, kidney stones, hyperacidity and heartburn.

Dried figs

Dried figs are very beneficial to our health. They have much more vitamins and minerals than any other fruit, but you can’t overdo eating them.

They are a source of vitamins A, K, B1, B5, B6 and calcium, copper, potassium, iron, magnesium and manganese. High in fiber, they prevent constipation, high blood pressure, lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of heart disease, some cancers and diabetes. In addition, they contain a lot of water and are easy to digest.
