Tiles are a great way to add character to both your bathroom and kitchen. Today’s market offers a number of interesting and aesthetic solutions that you can introduce to your interior. Find out what tiles to choose to make them beautiful and functional.
Let’s start with the fact that you will find many different types of tiles on the market, and each of them will have a slightly different use. Which tiles are the most popular?
First of all, you should pay attention to the classic tile, because it gives you the greatest scope for interior design. In addition, these tiles are covered with glaze, so they beautifully reflect the light. Unfortunately, they are characterized by fragility, but they are extremely resistant to chemicals, so you can easily wash them from any dirt, which is extremely easy to get in the kitchen and bathroom.
Another type of tiles that will be an interesting solution is terracotta. These are stoneware tiles that will work well both as wall tiles and as floor tiles. They are made of purified, fine-grained clay and it is to clay that they owe their beautiful color
Porcelain stoneware, i.e. ceramic tiles, which have undergone an additional pressing process, can also be used in kitchens and bathrooms. They are perfect both for the floor and for the walls. They are characterized by much hardness and durability.
Glass tiles are also an unusual solution, which will give an amazing atmosphere to your interior. However, remember that you will put them only on the wall. A big advantage of this type of tiles is that they are easy to keep clean.
To make your interior aesthetically pleasing, it is worth considering not only the type of tiles, but also their shape, color and size. You can choose the most traditional square white tiles, but also interesting patchwork tiles and lapato tiles. Which solution you decide on should depend primarily on your interior, and more specifically on its size. In small rooms, it is better to avoid large, single-colored tiles, which create the effect of a sheet. Smaller ones will do much better. They can be square or rectangular – it depends on your taste. However, it is important that they reflect light, which will optically enlarge the surface. In such a slightly smaller interior you can also opt for a glazed mosaic
In large kitchens, on the other hand, large tiles will be perfect, thanks to which you will get a beautiful effect of an almost uniform, smooth wall. This is a brilliant solution for modern and industrial decor. However, if you want your kitchen to have a more elegant and glamorous feel, you can also opt for colorful mosaics.
The finish of the tiles is also important. High gloss enlivens the interior and enlarges it optically, so it’s perfect for small kitchens and bathrooms. Remember, however, that glossy tiles also have their drawbacks, since all dirt and stains can be seen on them from a distance. On the other hand, matte looks very modern and creates an interesting base for industrial arrangements, especially when it is paired with dark colors. Its huge advantage is the fact that you cannot see dirt on it.
